About Me

Jack Gubasta is a scholar of Information Sciences concentrated in Information Security and a National Society of Leadership and Success scholar at the University of South Florida. Before his studies, he was born in Fort Myers, Florida. Following graduating high school he served 3 and a half years as a combat engineer for the US Army, where he served a 9-month combat tour in Syria. His awards include the Army Good Conduct Medal, two Army Achievement Awards, the Army Commendation Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the National Defense Medal.

As a dedicated and disciplined combat engineer, I, Jack Gubasta, proudly served in the United States Army for 3 and a half years. During my time in the military, I honed my skills in combat engineering, specializing in the planning, constructing, and maintaining essential infrastructure in high-stakes environments. My service included a deployment to Syria where I contributed to critical missions, demonstrating resilience and adaptability under pressure.

My military experience has made me well equipped for a career in cyber-security with a strong foundation in problem-solving and hands-on defense, I believe I can bring a fresh perspective to any cybersecurity team. While serving, I led teams in constructing vital structures, ensuring the safety and success of operations. From clearing landmines to fortifying positions, my expertise lies in turning challenges into opportunities through strategic planning and execution. I believe my expertise in physical security can translate well into the cybersecurity field. \

With a passion for life long learning I have transitioned well into my role as a student. Currently I am pursing a bachelor’s degree in information sciences concentrated in Information Security and a minor in History, Jack Gubasta is set to graduate in May 2024. I have been pursuing my interests in cybersecurity by preparing for the CompTIA Security+ certification and am an active member of USF’s Whitehatters Computer Security club where I plan on taking part in hack the box, and capture the flag competitions. On top of being involved in the Whittehater’s Computer Security club, Jack Gubasta is hoping to take part in the ReliaQuest Spring labs in hopes of gaining important hands-on experience as a security analyst. Jack Gubasta is also currently enrolled in the USF Global Tech Experience focused in coding for data analytics.

In the future I hope to bridge the gap between my military experience and the tech-driven civilian landscape. I aspire to apply the problem-solving and leadership skills gained in the military to make meaningful contributions to a team of security analysts. As someone who is dedicated to service, I can bring a heartfelt connection to providing security for a broad range of clients, whether that’s a small business, or a major corporation. My experience in the military has prepared me to work with every imaginable background and has provided me the ability to show empathy to other cultures. I believe these qualities make me vital to a team.

Jack Gubasta is also committed to giving back to other veterans by actively engaging in community initiatives that support veterans' transition to civilian life and advocate for the integration of military skills into the workforce. By sharing my experiences, I aim to inspire my fellow veterans to make the most out of their benefits and pursue an education or trade.

I welcome any networking and collaboration opportunities. Feel free to connect with me on Lindkin to discuss career aspirations, job opportunities, and share insights.
